Department Description
The Legal Department (Project Legal Group),based in Tokyo, is an organization that resolves legal issues in projects through drafting and reviewing contracts related to the development, financing, construction, and operation of domestic and international power plants using renewable energy resources, as well as joint development agreements with business partners. As part of the project team, members devise higher-value contract terms and drive company growth through proper risk-taking and risk management as a legal organization (Legal Project Manager).The person hired for this position will be based in our Manila office and responsible for projects/corporate matters in the Philippines.
Job Description
Achieve the mission by executing the following tasks at the front line together with project members from development, finance, engineering, and other departments:
(1)Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing contracts for development projects of power plants, energy storage facilities, etc. using renewable energy resources (including shareholders' agreements, land use agreements, EPC contracts, O&M contracts, and other project finance-related contracts)
(2)Analyzing business plans and resolving legal issues and business issues from a legal perspective
(3)Planning and executing dispute and trouble resolution
(4)Reviewing other contracts and handling corporate legal matters including group companies
(5)Executing management reporting and decision-making as a primary member
*All activities leverage legal background and business development expertise, rather than simple internal coordination or following precedent, and directly contribute to business performance and company goal achievement.
Path to Independence (6 months to 1 year)
As a standard process, under the guidance of department managers and senior members based in Tokyo and Manila, you will be assigned as a project legal member within a maximum of six months after joining through: (1)building relationships with internal members, (2)attending and participating in regular issue-sharing and resolution meetings, and (3)handling partial project contracts. During the guidance period, you will receive input on ongoing project issues, contracts under negotiation, and actual problem-solving processes and methods. Additionally, while conducting OJT, irregular study sessions may be planned to improve overall capabilities. (The program will be designed based on your experience.)

・Interest in our business areas and alignment with our mission
・Approximately 5 years of practical experience in renewable energy industy
・Experience in contract drafting and execution (established thinking ability to identify risks independently and resolve them through contract terms and other legal means)
・Proactive attitude to actively engage with people and raise issues
・Ability to extract legal risks, conduct interviews, and explain to others
